Renaissance Melancholy

I have always loved melancholy music and in the lute songs of the English Renaissance I found a lot of it. The lyrics are often old-fashioned and difficult to understand, but still so contemporary and relatable, almost like notes from someone’s diary. It’s really important to me to enhance the text and not only make this music about the sound of the notes, but of the feelings behind it.
